Okay, so thanks to this most recent event, Schuldig is once again a telepath. This means that yes, he can read your mind!
There are some characters who will find themselves naturally exempt:
• Any animal, robot, or other blatantly non-human character. For instance, Mickey Mouse would be exempt from Schuldig's telepathy because he's an animal; Legolas, as an elf, would not be. If you're close enough to human to have a human-like brain and human-like thought processes, no matter what you are on paper, then you're probably not exempt.
• Any similarly psychic character can shut Schuldig out by choice. Note that this is something they have to actively choose to do rather than something that happens automatically, but it can be done with minimal effort whenever they want.
• If you tell me OOCly you want your character not to be mind-read, for whatever reason, I'll either call them exempt or just have Schuldig ICly not bother with them. ♥
• All drones, both native to Mayfield and characters who are being canon-updated/on hiatus/have been dropped, are essentially blank slates to Schuldig; he gets nothing from them.
• The Postman has been mod-confirmed to be unreadable, but also not the same as the drones; this likely goes for the Milkman, the Mayor, and Lucy Smith as well. (But even if it doesn't, Schuldig can't read their minds regardless.)
Also, there are some characters who fall into a special category:
• Characters with extreme amounts of knowledge, power, or who receive vast amounts of input or the like - think godlike beings, certain psychics, and the like - would have minds too complex and branching for Schuldig to do much more than barely skim the surface. (And, in many cases, would probably also fall under some of the naturally exempt categories anyway.) Those are treacherous waters and even if he can read your mind, he probably won't in these instances. (Recalling an example from before, you could make an argument that Legolas has lived enough lifetimes of men to be nearly inaccessible to Schuldig mentally. Being an elf may not protect him, but being incredibly old and wise because he's an elf might!)
That said, I'd appreciate it if anyone with naturally exempt or special category characters would make a note here so I know who would appear to Schuldig as a mental blank slate/off-limits! Also, if you would rather not have your character be a target of mind-reading - or if there's something you specifically want Schuldig not to do with his powers, even if you don't want your character counted out entirely - make a note here, too. ♥
For those who are fine with their characters having their minds read: All you have to do is make a note of what their thoughts are in posts with Schuldig, and those are what he'll have access to. Also, I'm always available for discussing things over AIM on FyreflyzBlaze under any circumstances!
EDIT: Also, be aware that Schuldig has further telepathic abilities detailed here!

Date: 2010-08-13 09:22 am (UTC)Susan Sto Helit (deaths_heritor) is, on occasion, Death. When she's being an immortal anthropomorphic personality (rare), her mind will be inaccessible.

Date: 2010-08-13 09:37 am (UTC)And fine for Susan, as well~ If she has Death moments when around Schuldig, just make sure to make note of it so I know when she's gone beyond his realm.

Date: 2010-08-14 12:21 am (UTC)Also, in Schuldig's canon he makes remarks that can be interpreted as his not even being able to separate the passive thoughts from people around him from his own, which I take to mean he has no ability to keep anyone out of his head, psychic or not. Fellow psychics will have no trouble getting into his head...although he will know they're there and will try to drive them out by any means available to him, though he can't actually eject them from his head. But he tends to react very badly, and violently, to having the shoe on the other telepathic foot, so use due caution.

Date: 2010-08-13 04:45 pm (UTC)Prussia is a country - I don't know if this falls under special category or not but I'm going to go ahead and okay mind reading for him. It's not like he won't just tell you what he's thinking, anyway.

Also, with Nagi, is there anything you can tell me he would have shielded by default? That doesn't preclude his throwing up shields over other things in the future, but it's good to know ahead of time if Schu will always find certain things partitioned off.

Date: 2010-08-13 09:40 pm (UTC)If he tries to read for too long he might get pushed out by Black Hanekawa, a bakeneko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakeneko) who lives inside Hanekawa's body via a split personality disorder. She wouldn't want someone sneaking around its mistress's head.

Date: 2010-08-14 10:28 pm (UTC)Albedo's mind has been thoroughly and utterly broken and then put together wrong, leaving him still mildly insane. If he shoves his way past Albedo's mental blocks, IM me at firebenderjess so I can tell you what he sees, since Albedo has a lot of memories and some of them are very disturbing.

Date: 2010-09-03 09:43 pm (UTC)As for Zidane - I don't know if you'd be able to. He's a Genome and all Genomes are artificial creations (although I wouldn't call them robots - most of the normal Genomes are supposed to be souless creatures who are supposed to be the bodies of the souls of the original people of Terra when they wake up from a few thousand year-old sleep. One line in canon suggests that they have brains, though.
Canon also suggests that they can bleed and urinate but that's a little irrelevant! XD). He already has a soul and has human-like thought processes, though. That may or may not be because he ended up on Gaia and grew up as a normal life thanks to Kuja. On the other hand, he's a bit different from the other Genomes in the sense that Garland created him so that he would start life as a child, grow up and develop complex emotions that the other Genomes can't do. So, in a sense, Garland made him to be more human-like than most of his brethren.I don't know if he would be exempt, though - that's for you to decide. However, on the grounds that Schuldig would be able to read Zidane's mind then I'll happily give permission - go nuts! He probably wouldn't be too happy about you finding about his origins and doing so would give Schuldig good trolling material.

Date: 2010-11-15 05:00 am (UTC)Olivier : INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT, but you knew that. She won;t be exempt, obviously, and you know my limits.
Kakyoin : If Schu ever has need to read him, it would be spiffy if he could sense Hierophant as sort of another consciousness lurking, though he's actually a separate (non-sentient) entity. It would be fabulously confusing.
Elly : KIND OF BATSHIT, just so you know. And sort of empty. Not really that interesting. When she begins to become a youkai again, her mind may slowly close off to him.
Ran : ...Not technically human once she's got her stuff back. XD But he can feel free to read her casually. She's used to mindfuck.

Date: 2011-01-28 08:53 am (UTC)I don't think Cyuss's mind would be able to be read by Schuldig. While he's humanoid in appearance, he has a completely different evolutionary line. Not to mention thoughts are a neurological process; having bronze blood is something Schuldig would never encounter, and it would mean Cyuss's thoughts work slightly differently than a human's thoughts. /o/ I mean, if he was an elf and had iron blood, it would be one thing, but since his entire body is built around a bronze blood system, I imagine he'd be more under the "animal" category.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, though.
