OOC: Permissions Post!

Okay, so thanks to this most recent event, Schuldig is once again a telepath. This means that yes, he can read your mind!

There are some characters who will find themselves naturally exempt:

• Any animal, robot, or other blatantly non-human character. For instance, Mickey Mouse would be exempt from Schuldig's telepathy because he's an animal; Legolas, as an elf, would not be. If you're close enough to human to have a human-like brain and human-like thought processes, no matter what you are on paper, then you're probably not exempt.

• Any similarly psychic character can shut Schuldig out by choice. Note that this is something they have to actively choose to do rather than something that happens automatically, but it can be done with minimal effort whenever they want.

• If you tell me OOCly you want your character not to be mind-read, for whatever reason, I'll either call them exempt or just have Schuldig ICly not bother with them. ♥

• All drones, both native to Mayfield and characters who are being canon-updated/on hiatus/have been dropped, are essentially blank slates to Schuldig; he gets nothing from them.

• The Postman has been mod-confirmed to be unreadable, but also not the same as the drones; this likely goes for the Milkman, the Mayor, and Lucy Smith as well. (But even if it doesn't, Schuldig can't read their minds regardless.)

Also, there are some characters who fall into a special category:

• Characters with extreme amounts of knowledge, power, or who receive vast amounts of input or the like - think godlike beings, certain psychics, and the like - would have minds too complex and branching for Schuldig to do much more than barely skim the surface. (And, in many cases, would probably also fall under some of the naturally exempt categories anyway.) Those are treacherous waters and even if he can read your mind, he probably won't in these instances. (Recalling an example from before, you could make an argument that Legolas has lived enough lifetimes of men to be nearly inaccessible to Schuldig mentally. Being an elf may not protect him, but being incredibly old and wise because he's an elf might!)

That said, I'd appreciate it if anyone with naturally exempt or special category characters would make a note here so I know who would appear to Schuldig as a mental blank slate/off-limits! Also, if you would rather not have your character be a target of mind-reading - or if there's something you specifically want Schuldig not to do with his powers, even if you don't want your character counted out entirely - make a note here, too. ♥

For those who are fine with their characters having their minds read: All you have to do is make a note of what their thoughts are in posts with Schuldig, and those are what he'll have access to. Also, I'm always available for discussing things over AIM on FyreflyzBlaze under any circumstances!

EDIT: Also, be aware that Schuldig has further telepathic abilities detailed here!

Yuki falls under the naturally exempt and/or special category. It's up to you which one. For reference, she's a humanoid construct created by a hive-mind data species and views the world as data to be manipulated.

Susan Sto Helit (deaths_heritor) is, on occasion, Death. When she's being an immortal anthropomorphic personality (rare), her mind will be inaccessible.

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yuki was actually one of the examples I considered listing for the special category things, since I'm vaguely aware of what she is. ^^ I wasn't actually sure what her Mayfield status, though, so I opted not to mention her. But yes, definitely consider her non-readable. Is she technically a robot? If so, Schu wouldn't have access at all because what she uses as a mind is not a mind in the human sense of the word. If she's got a mind that's biologically human but enhanced, she'd fall into the special category instead. (It's only important to know in that Schuldig would be able to tell why he can't access her mind.)

And fine for Susan, as well~ If she has Death moments when around Schuldig, just make sure to make note of it so I know when she's gone beyond his realm.

Oh go for it, read all my guys! As for what you find, I suppose we can leave that up to role-playing right? Case-to-case basis?

This is for BLU Scout, Theo Crawford, Calleo Crowe and Cynric. :D

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! Schuldig largely only gets current thoughts, so what he gets will depend on what your guys are thinking at the moment.

WRONG ACCOUNT BUT

Shiki [profile] artwithknives goes on a special account basis. If his mind is read, he'll sense it. He won't know who or where they're at but what makes it special is he gets the urge to kill when he detects these supernatural things so...any thoughts he would have would be overridden with KILL KILL KILL KILL. In red text.

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Pffffft. XD See, Schuldig is like a kid in that, once he finds that button, he'll just press it at random intervals for amusement, even if there's no concrete benefit to him.

[identity profile] wondering-eye.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey 'sup. This here girl, Satori, is a mind-reader herself, so if she figures out he's reading her mind she is going to troll him hard in response - if that's okay with you, of course! Her canon is iffy on blocking people out (i.e., the only one she can't read the mind of in her canon has pretty much shut down her conscious mind entirely), but if you're not okay with Satori trolling Schuldig I can handwave it.

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, man, if anyone in Mayfield deserves trolling, Schuldig is it. XD What form would this trolling take?

Also, in Schuldig's canon he makes remarks that can be interpreted as his not even being able to separate the passive thoughts from people around him from his own, which I take to mean he has no ability to keep anyone out of his head, psychic or not. Fellow psychics will have no trouble getting into his head...although he will know they're there and will try to drive them out by any means available to him, though he can't actually eject them from his head. But he tends to react very badly, and violently, to having the shoe on the other telepathic foot, so use due caution.

[identity profile] rulethegame.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Joshua won't be able to block Schuldig out while he's still human, but he does fall into the special category. He's basically a god, so I'm guessing Schuldig probably won't be able to dig deep into his head. I'm just going to go with canon here and say that if Schuldig does try reading his mind, he'll wind up with images and scattered memories of Shibuya, but no sentences or what Joshua's actually thinking at the point in time. And yeah, Josh'll probably know Schuldig's there, but he won't do too much to stop him.

Prussia is a country - I don't know if this falls under special category or not but I'm going to go ahead and okay mind reading for him. It's not like he won't just tell you what he's thinking, anyway.

[identity profile] rulethegame.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
One additional note - during this event, Joshua's had a good chunk of his memories taken away, so his head will be a lot easier to get into and he won't be able to tell Schuldig's in there as easily. That said, he's regained his ability to raise his vibe, so Schuldig will find himself thrown out rather forcibly if he oversteps his bounds. Normally, this wouldn't happen since Joshua does not want people finding out who he really is at all, but he won't be able to remember that or how to control his powers.

[identity profile] smallestknight.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhhhhh. His mind is an open book if you want to hear about plants, Himeno, and Hayate a lot.

And that something tastes yummy.

Or that he likes school.

...He's five. He doesn't have complex thoughts.

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he might fall into Schuldig's own personal category of 'this is way too boring'. XD

[identity profile] abyssinian21.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
lol It's Aya. You're totally free to any and all this thoughts much like Schu would be in canon.

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Noted~ Oh, Aya, Schuldig will love toying with you again.

[identity profile] playsdoctor.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Nic // [livejournal.com profile] notyoureditor - Completely readable. Have fun finding those memories of a place oddly similar to Rosenkreuz.... He'll be able to recognize the feeling of someone being in his head, but can't stop it.

Muraki // [livejournal.com profile] playsdoctor - Readable even after he regains the things that make him not quite human.

Nagi // [livejournal.com profile] bittermayfly - Presumably there are some things weakly shielded in his mind, but otherwise Schu's free to do whatever

[identity profile] have-your-lives.livejournal.com 2010-08-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Noted!

For reference - with Nic, is it just a place similar to Rosenkrus, or the real deal?

Also, with Nagi, is there anything you can tell me he would have shielded by default? That doesn't preclude his throwing up shields over other things in the future, but it's good to know ahead of time if Schu will always find certain things partitioned off.

[identity profile] iinchoucat.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanekawa herself is a pretty normal human so go ahead. Schuldig will probably be able to find out she lives with Aya as well as her family troubles.

If he tries to read for too long he might get pushed out by Black Hanekawa, a bakeneko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakeneko) who lives inside Hanekawa's body via a split personality disorder. She wouldn't want someone sneaking around its mistress's head.

Following Yuki-mun's example and saying [Bad username or site: onlyeverabackup title=Ryoko @ livejournal.com] is unreadable for the same reasons. Shiraasan on the other hand, despite being a Homunculus, has thoughts like any human and should be simple enough to read.

Schu probably won't be able to really read Albedo's mind once he gets access to the Collective Unconscious back, but for now he'll just find that Albedo is pretty good at shielding his own thoughts, though not perfect, and would recognize someone digging around in his head.

Albedo's mind has been thoroughly and utterly broken and then put together wrong, leaving him still mildly insane. If he shoves his way past Albedo's mental blocks, IM me at firebenderjess so I can tell you what he sees, since Albedo has a lot of memories and some of them are very disturbing.

Yes, read Mukuro's mind.

However, he's a psychopath and illusionist, so what Schuldig hears is going to be nonsense. Or screaming bloody murder in his mind every time Mukuro's around ;3

Oh, Schu is going to love him. :|

As we discussed before, you can happily read Dahlia's mind.

As for Zidane - I don't know if you'd be able to. He's a Genome and all Genomes are artificial creations (although I wouldn't call them robots - most of the normal Genomes are supposed to be souless creatures who are supposed to be the bodies of the souls of the original people of Terra when they wake up from a few thousand year-old sleep. One line in canon suggests that they have brains, though. Canon also suggests that they can bleed and urinate but that's a little irrelevant! XD). He already has a soul and has human-like thought processes, though. That may or may not be because he ended up on Gaia and grew up as a normal life thanks to Kuja. On the other hand, he's a bit different from the other Genomes in the sense that Garland created him so that he would start life as a child, grow up and develop complex emotions that the other Genomes can't do. So, in a sense, Garland made him to be more human-like than most of his brethren.

I don't know if he would be exempt, though - that's for you to decide. However, on the grounds that Schuldig would be able to read Zidane's mind then I'll happily give permission - go nuts! He probably wouldn't be too happy about you finding about his origins and doing so would give Schuldig good trolling material.

Have I really not commented to this yet, WELL. Um. Hanekoma's similar to Joshua but a hell of a lot more powerful, and he's actually regained his higher-being-ness. Schuldig shouldn't be able to get into his head, but if he tries, he'll probably sense that Hanekoma's not who he says he is. His mind is a pretty complicated and inhuman place.

[identity profile] chaoschildofgod.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
He can -try- to read chaos' mind, but it probably won't work all too well, as chaos is Jesus and is over six-thousand years old. Meaning he likely falls into the Special Category.

He is presently powerless, other than healing, so it'll be up to you if Schuldig tries to dig into what information he has. Don't blame me if he gets whiplash though :)

[identity profile] ra-ra-razputin.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hey I never posted to this!

Schuldig can read [livejournal.com profile] plantenough and [livejournal.com profile] a_crazygirl just fine, but I think I'm gonna say Raz here is off-limits because he's canonically hard to read even when he's not trying to block people. So yeah!

AS IF I HAVE TO TELL YOU.

Olivier : INCREDIBLY INTELLIGENT, but you knew that. She won;t be exempt, obviously, and you know my limits.
Kakyoin : If Schu ever has need to read him, it would be spiffy if he could sense Hierophant as sort of another consciousness lurking, though he's actually a separate (non-sentient) entity. It would be fabulously confusing.
Elly : KIND OF BATSHIT, just so you know. And sort of empty. Not really that interesting. When she begins to become a youkai again, her mind may slowly close off to him.
Ran : ...Not technically human once she's got her stuff back. XD But he can feel free to read her casually. She's used to mindfuck.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 09:06 am (UTC)(link)

/still reading through this because lol ic apples to apples

I don't think Cyuss's mind would be able to be read by Schuldig. While he's humanoid in appearance, he has a completely different evolutionary line. Not to mention thoughts are a neurological process; having bronze blood is something Schuldig would never encounter, and it would mean Cyuss's thoughts work slightly differently than a human's thoughts. /o/ I mean, if he was an elf and had iron blood, it would be one thing, but since his entire body is built around a bronze blood system, I imagine he'd be more under the "animal" category.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, though.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm adding my other two to the list of readable since I've covered 3 of them.

Arslan and Arshes Nei would be completely readable to Schuldig.
